Scoots looks really weird in the first panel. It took a bit of staring to figure out why she had a tentacle draped over her neck.

I saw the first few panels and was like,

"Ah, obviously talking about dead parents. Dark humor, ahoy. I guess the punchline'll be that it's NOT what they're actually talking about, and it'll be worth a snicker—
